spazz: (regina wink)
So, I promised [livejournal.com profile] randomfangirl29 that I'd watch Mystery Spot again. I went home a day earlier than I had planned because I'm just so... drained from this week[1]. Ugh. So yeah. I went window shopping with my mom for a bit, then re-watched the episode.

Now, because I was watching it in the afternoon, my mom was in the living room with me. This always gives me the heebies because I make terrible fun of my mother's choice in TV shows, and she generally never misses an opportunity to snipe at some part of Supernatural. Except for Dean. She calls him the good-looking one. XD She always manages to walk in at the most inopportune episode moments, and it always seems to be during Nightshifter[2]. I'm pretty sure I watch that episode too much, but I digress.

I was worried she'd tell me how stupid the show was and thus I wouldn't get the chance to properly reevaluate it[3], and all would be storm clouds and sadness.

But that was not to be. Somewhere around the title-card my Dad walks in and gets comfy as well. Fun, double-awkward time. Except for the part where it totally wasn't--it was complete and total awesome. I had to tell my dad about 5 times that this was the "Groundhog Day" episode[4], and my mom kept giving me weird looks and saying things like "So, why did you hate this?" It was awesome. My dad loved the scene where Sam accidentally kills Dean with an axe, and the montage of Dean-deaths. He kept saying things like "This show is really funny and original and imaginative," and I kept squeeing. In fact, I believe I squeed to Supernatural along with my father. Yeah. It was eerie.

Then my mom left right before the Trickster shows up to pick Nick up from baseball. I continued squeeing with my Dad. For the record, I like the fact that it was the Trickster, I'm just entirely confused as to what his motives/purpose was. But this being Supernatural, we'll probably find out. I hope.

I told my dad about Tall Tales and how this show is fantastic at mixing its humor and angst and all about the random intricate plot details and subtlety and Kripke. And I'm thinking I'm going to show him Tall Tales[5]. I really am. Whether he likes it or not. x) He didn't like the veer off into Crazy!Sam angsty land, but hey. That's disorienting for someone who doesn't know what's going on, come on! :P

All in all, it was a delightful time. But it wasn't over yet. x)

My mom came home with my brother, and asked me to tell her what happened in the end. Yes. My mother. Watcher of Dr. Phil and The Real Housewives of Orange County and general mocker of all things SciFi or Fantasy took a genuine interest in Supernatural. Sure, it was short-lived, but... it was funny. :) I'm hoping next week is equally as impressive so I can boast about my show to them again. It's cool to be able to tell them "Yeah, these are the guys I went to see in Chicago in November; they're really awesome and hilarious," and have them understand what I'm talking about. Supernatural is a part of my life they've never been involved in and this is starting to sound really stupid even to me[6], but... I liked watching it with them. Actually, I love watching that show with anyone who hasn't seen it before. It's ridiculously fun to watch them get addicted. XD

And hey. I'm not holding out much hope, but... My dad's been all cranky about 24 not coming back until 2009, and I have season 1 on DVD. My laugh is an evil one. <3

Footnotes:
1) Read: I had a two tests and a paper and I never want to write anything or think ever again, the end.
2) My Mom: "What are you watching?" *gives disapproving look*
Me: "Um, Supernatural...? Look! There are pretty boys!"
My Mom: "Er... The one of them is good-looking..." *makes a O.o face*
Me: "OH DON'T YOU BE DISSIN' RONALD."
3) Because, come on; the majority of fandom disagreed with me, of course I'm going to give it a second chance.
4) Actually, one time this line coincided with Dean's. Good times.
5) Though I'm wondering if he wouldn't like Bad Day at Black Rock better; my brother actually kinda wants to see that one, too. XD Elizabeth, will you bring that with you on Pie-day? <3
6) Sorry about my schmoop; I just enjoyed bonding with my parents over something that wasn't technology or shopping. WHOO. :)
