IRON MAN LIVES AGAIN!

(I wrote this last night at 3AM. That's why there's a lack of coherence. ;) It wouldn't post until now though. My feelings on SPN are still the same. I think I'm gonna watch it again right now)
So I just got back from Iron Man. :) We decided about midway through tonight that we wanted to go; tonight was a beautiful thing. It was a fitting way to say goodbye to someone I've lived with for about a year in the geekiest possible way. Plus, through a stroke of luck, we got our tickets for free (THANK YOU KATHERINE. SERIOUSLY. ELIZABETH. GIVE YOUR SISTER SO MANY HUGS FROM ME). It was awesome. Words cannot express how amazing I thought it was. :) Go see it now.
Okay... I was excited for this episode. I was beyond excited for this episode. "Okay. Here we go; John's coming back, we're gonna have the boys, we're gonna have the start to another trilogy like the end of both previous seasons. My happiness is going to be through the roof." So... super high expectations.
The more I think about it? The less I liked the episode as a narrative. It didn't hold up. The mystery-solving bits were weak. And I know that wasn't the point of the episode but... I want to know what the sandwich-sounding-monster was. Also, it had awesome teeth. But it didn't bite anything. For some reason I cannot move past this. So I really hating the casefile, MOTW part of the episode because it was super weak.
I think this is a problem that I have with Jeremy Carver. I loathe Sin City's storyline; love the last scene with Sam and Ruby, and love the little moments in general, but the arc of the episode sucks. The Christmas episode was okay, but once again... the character moments were the parts that really shined. You guys... I don't know if Mr. Carver can write a compelling story. I need action in my Supernatural; it's not just drama. I loved the first and last scenes with the boys in this episode. All their little moments were awesome, and deep, and perfect. He got across the complete desperation those boys are starting to edge towards. I love that the writers have backed these boys into a corner and they're keeping them there. It makes for good TV.
But if you're going to do a MOTW storyline, do it right. There need to be clues. Sam doesn't need to magically obtain the knowledge necessary to complete the case at just the right time. There was too little building of the story within this episode. I know that we need to talk about Dean's deal right now, but... Just ugh. I don't know. Something about it I really disliked. It was anticlimat
