Alright... summer is pretty officially upon us. *headdesk*

So... anyone got any recommendations for things I should get obsessive over this summer? :D I'd really like book recs, but movie/anime/tv recs are also entirely awesomely acceptable.

I'm already thinking about watching Wolf's Rain because of tahu, but I reeeeeeeeeally need something good to read... heh.

Yeah? OMG!!!! You HAVE to read the Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett. They spoiled me for all other published fiction, ever. They have an irresistible leading man, sweeping plots, vivid description, and emotional charge times a thousand. I can't even express how amazing they are - you may want to take a look at some of the reviews on amazon. There are 6 books in the series, starting with THE GAME OF KINGS, and all have the added benefit of probably being at your local library since they were pubbed back in the 60's.

That said, the first book is NOT easy to get into. I had to try 3 times before I could do it. Rest assured, they get easier and better and by the end of the first book you'll be a slavish devotee. The books are called 'romance' but this term means romance in the classical sense - an adventure of the heart and mind, rather than bodice ripping.

Wow... that sounds great! :D I have about a week and a half this summer where I'm stuck indoors with no internet, so six books is perfect. I'll give this a shot!

Let me know what you think of them! They are really dense with detail and plot and of course the intrigues of Lymond, so they take a while to read. It usually takes me at least a week per book to read them - they have a fairly hefty page count, too.

A week and a half with no internet????? Horrors upon horrors!!
