It's no secret that my big feminist hero #1 is Amanda Palmer. Today is her birthday, and she asked that her fans try to convert the uninitiated as a birthday present. I have no idea how many of you have never listened to any of her music/if there even are any of you, BUT HERE I GO!

Firstly, my favorite of her solo album videos:

More awesome under the cut! )

If you want to know how awesome a person she is, you can Read her blog, or follow her on Twitter. She's exactly the kind of rock star I aspire to be. <3

The other day I went with my brother to the music store. He was looking at amps, I was continuing my seemingly endless quest to find some sheet music for Carry On My Wayward Son (I actually found some! But it was in a huge book. WE SHALL SEE.) when I decided to wander over to the guitar section to stare at the banjos.

They were expensive. So was the $300 Fender tenor ukulele. Seriously. $300 for a ukulele, who the hell do they think they are?

But then.... through the haze of expensive instruments, it appeared:

His name is Dean. I am in love with him. We are going to get married and run off to the country together and have little guitar babies. I've always been weirdly biased against guitars, but I sat down to play this one and it was a beautiful thing, let me tell you. I honestly can't stop thinking about it. I don't know where I'm going to come up with the money to buy it, but I'm bringing it home. Somehow, some way.

Also this is the company's logo:

They totally ship Dean/Castiel. Basically, I have to buy it and then compose epic love ballads for them. It's imperative.

Anyways....... Happy Easter! ;D

DON'T STOP BELIEVIN' IS COMING OUT FOR ROCK BAND ON TUESDAY!!!

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE THEY MADE THIS GAME.

STFU JOURNEY IS AWESOME.

They're also putting out Pat Benatar's Heartbreaker, and the Metallica Guitar Hero comes out Sunday.... basically, this is the best week ever. I need to find my cape and silly hat so I can lock myself in the basement and play all weekend. \o/

I'M SO EXCITED OMG.

Also I found a huge cache of sheet music online today, including some for a few Muse songs I've been looking for FOREVER. Dude today is the most musical day ever. <3
spazz: (ROCK!)
Sorry everybody, my internet's been down tonight, so I didn't get a chance to work on the meme, and now I'm just going to post it tomorrow.

But it is happening. Giant SPN fandom mix trade. Tell your friends. ;)

I found my cell phone adapter for my computer a few weeks ago, and I've been meaning to change my ringtone in celebration, but I can't think of ANYTHING to use. So if you have any suggestions, I'd love you forever. :D

[Poll #1337446]

I'll just be getting back to hanging up every poster/drawing I can find in the next ten minutes in a vain attempt to make my room like less like a prison. Puffchester Sam and Dean from way back when are going over my bed again. \o/

Thank you all for the lovely comments on my last picture. You have no idea how happy inside they make me. <3

I've been incredibly bored all day today. I'm really art-ed out, and will be for a few more days, yet. I don't want to make a video because I'm too lazy to grab clips. No one is online to talk to, and my brother has co-opted the Xbox.

So I've mostly been spending the day with my piano. I want to make a video of me playing it for posterity, but I don't want it to be Moonlight Sonata or Lacrimosa because I've played them to death. I'd do "Genius Next Door", but it's really, really not in my vocal range, and I'd want to do it justice because it's one of my favorite songs. That leaves the Dresden Dolls songs. The funny thing about these books is that my favorite songs on CD are rarely my favorite to play; I used to hate "Perfect Fit", but I play it just about every time I sit down at a piano bench these days.

Just try to guess what my favorite song to play from Yes, Virginia is.

Of course it had to be "First Orgasm". Oh, Amanda Palmer and the ridiculous things you make me enjoy singing. I always hated the piano part of that song until I learned to play it. It also doesn't hurt that it's ridiculously easy. I'll probably just end up recording "Boston", though; I kind of love it and it's also got that easy thing going for it. Or maybe "The Sheep Song", even though I don't like it so much when it's me playing that one. Go figure.

Or maybe I'll just end up recording my Astronaut cover on my ukulele, and all evidence of my mad piano skillz will fade into obscurity.

I. Love. Kansas.

It's my dad's fault. I really need to steal his CDs and rip the full library to my iTunes; I just don't have enough right now. Kansas is my music of chillaxation and occasional rock...axation. Today I've been listening to "Dust in the Wind" far too much. <33333 I've often fiddled with maybe learning it on my ukulele, but I'm failtastic at finger-picking. I have a tutorial on how to do it, I've just not had time to read/watch through it... Maybe I will over Christmas break. As it stands, I tried it super slow just using my thumb like I always do tonight, and it was incredibly fun. Getting myself a ukulele is one of the best things I have ever done.

I really hate the fact that I can't seem to write this paper. My roommate's gone for the rest of the weekend, so I'm considering locking myself in my dorm room until at least one of the two papers is done. I have to go dumpster diving this weekend for my art project, so I do promise to go outside at least once. I need to find bike parts and random mechanical-looking levers. I'm gonna build a bird, and use Mountain Dew bottles for feathers. I'm thinking about spray-painting the whole thing bronze aside from the bottles. It's going to be awesome. I am so going to miss art class.

When I get the CD with pictures of all my projects, I'll put them all up here so y'all can see how much of a sculptor I am now. :)

Since it's Thursday, and I'm a hopelessly shameless nerd, I'm putting up Silent Night. And because I do somewhat value your hearing, Bing Crosby's version as well. Oh, but I'm a generous soul. ;D

Silent Night - Supernatural

I don't know what I was smoking when I scheduled a second art class all the way out in that warehouse. I mean, I love the place to death (there was a dog! A big dog! Wandering around last time and it was ADORABLE), but it's so far. The fact that it's 30 degrees and misting isn't helping matters. Also my impending wood shop experiences... I'm really hoping I got the right wood and can make it through class without losing a limb. *crosses fingers*

I'm absolutely horrid at using power tools. Probably because my immediate reaction to holding drill/saw/sharp object that makes loud noise is to throw my head back and laugh maniacally. I would make an awesome super villain.

In other news, my musical tastes have recently turned to awesome chicks playing piano. So I thought I'd share. :D I'm such a giver.

The Only Fault - Rachael Yamagata
Rangers - A Fine Frenzy
Metal Heart - Cat Power

I can't wait for SPN Thursday. KINDA SORTA SPOILERFREENESS FOR THE WIN omg I'm so spoiled at this point I shouldn't even be allowed to say that... at least I know nothing for 10!

I found this awesome Reddit-like site for music this morning: Cherrypeel. It seems to be in it's formative stages right now, so there's a lot more indie than there is, say, metal, but... I have a feeling if this thing picks up it could get awesome. I'm kind of obsessed with "C'mon Sea Legs" by Immaculate Machine, so I thought I'd pass this new awesomeness on to my flist and the internets at large. :)

Today is mostly being spent in excitement for tomorrow. There will be cake! And a ~*SURPRISE*~! OH GOOD GOLLY GOSH. :D

I got my first paper back with a good grade this morning, so I'm feeling pretty good about my academic standing at the moment. I'm gonna have to pull at least one of my grades up, but for now, I'm in a decent enough place to skate through the rest of the semester. I think. This is still partial speculation on my part, but... it's nice to finally not feel stressed. I think having both my midterm papers finished is helping exponentially on this front. Also the fact that I kick ass in Sculpture class.

I'm definitely going down there Friday night and painting til I'm satisfied with my monstrosity. <3 It just needs a super-pretentious arty name... It's an abstraction off a leaf, any suggestions?

I haven't been up to much lately (other than my video, which, for what it looks like, well... why can't I do something more worth my time? XD;;), but I thought I'd check in to apologize for not really reading my flist over the past few weeks. Occasionally I just get a little overwhelmed and can't handle reading it... it's this whole weird thing. I really don't even know.

But I'm probably going to go back through it tonight, if I don't get this video finished or study for my midterm tomorrow, so you know. If you get random comments from me, it's because I'm really late and bad at this flist thing. :)

In other news, I'm in absolute love with Rock Band. So here's a download of Let There Be Rock by AC/DC. Because that is essentially what I've been screaming all day. :) Good times.

I'm all by myself for SPN this week. Anyone (besides [livejournal.com profile] tahu ;D) want to be online and watch it with me?
spazz: (ROCK!)

Because I have far too much free time & music. :) )

I can't seem to make art for those two, so you get a fanmix. Now I'm off to do other fanart and finish my little!Mary video. :)

When you see this, quote Supernatural in your LJ.

Pretty sure I'm the last one here, but... *points to icon* :D

I decided not to do my homework tonight in favor of being completely and totally random. And making video crack for [livejournal.com profile] popcornleader. That I should be posting in Mount Rosenbaum, but I couldn't be bothered. :D Also, I wanted to use my Rosenbaum tag again.

/o/ SO COME AND DANCE WITH ME, SO COME AND DANCE WITH ME! \o\ )

In closing, 2 DAYSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

ETA: I stole a meme from [livejournal.com profile] kateg123 because I continue to be a ninja. :D A song for each of the letters in my username:

Get Low (Lil Jon Cover) - Rowan Spencer
Everything In Its Right Place - Radiohead
Michael - Franz Ferdinand
Blasphemous Rumors - Depeche Mode
All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan Cover) - Tom Landa & The Paperboys
Time Is On My Side - The Rolling Stones

If you take nothing else, take the first song. It's an acoustic cover. It's ridiculously hilarious. That is all.

I'm sick of waiting for the "The Road So Far" promo for SPN this year.

So I'm making my own this weekend. Help me make a really important decision. :) Suggestions that isn't on this list are also appreciated. :) And keep in mind that I'm going to edit the song down to where it's only about a minute/minute and a half. That's how I roll.

If you haven't heard the song, download links are provided for your convenience. Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

Over the past few days I've been watching The Soup on youtube. Don't ask why (it has something to do with Fandom Wank and David Caruso, and I can't remember anything past that).

Anyways, I'm sure everyone and their dog has seen this clip, but I cannot stop laughing. And it's been three days.

So, here ya go:

For further hilarity, check out SuperHills Me. <3

In closing, a meme.

Here are the top 100 songs of the year 2007 (when I graduated high school, whoot-whoo!). Strikethrough the songs you don't like, bold the ones you do, italicize the ones you've never heard. (Stolen from various f-listers)

So... I've made a video about Dean, and one about Bela, but not one about Sam. And what's that about, anyway. So in my never-ending quest to learn how to use After Effects, I've decided to do something about this. So... you can help me in picking a song. :D Which... you know... would work better if I put them online is what Muxtape was made for! :D Except, it won't upload anything that isn't an *.mp3, so... Jessica Numbers isn't on there. And neither is The Trickster. But you can watch them at those links on youtube if you so choose. :D Anyway, here's my muxtape.

[Poll #1198683]

As always, I'm totally going to shorten the song. I just honestly cannot choose between all of these. Any help at all is appreciated? Also, I'll hopefully have a really, really ginormous post later, wherein I ramble about my hair, terrible books I've been reading, and Michael Rosenbaum. For serious.

Apparently it's spammy meme day for me today. I apologize, but.... there is music in this post. It's not all bad, right? ;)

Meme #1 from [livejournal.com profile] edge_of_night: Comment on this post and I will choose seven interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along. (You can also post your answers in my comments here and that wouldn't bother me, if you'd rather not post them in your journal.)

Here are mine *has a billion-ty interests* )

Ok, and a small roommate-related story because of that last one: The other day I was on Facebook, and Dayna left me a message saying "I hate my life", and I was all "OH NOES, HORRIBLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING TO DAYNA! D:" BUT THEN when I asked what was wrong, she was like "'No Rest for the Wicked'. I THINK NO FURTHER WORDS ARE NECESSARY."

Y'all. I corrupted my poor roommate. And I love her for letting me do that. XD

Meme #2 from [livejournal.com profile] nitro26:
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Alright, I'mma try to go less heavy on the classic rock than I usually do, just because I DO have other musical interests, and the world should know. :D *does a sparkly swirly dance*

My letter is H... Hmmmmmm.... )

If you want to do either of the memes, just tell me which when you comment. ;)

Dude, I'm getting ridiculously excited about tomorrow. :D "No Virginia" is coming out, as well as the Muse DLC for Rock Band, and I am just MUSIC'D OUT what with all my excitement. :) I even drew a picture of Amanda Palmer whilst printing once again (I'm basically printing and binding about 6 different copies of books; it's sorta crazy and/or ridiculous, and most certainly not what I signed up for, but hey! I'm getting paid! \o/), and I sorta like the way it turned out.

Pictuuuuure! )

I don't know if I'm going to color it, but... the legs definitely need some work. :/

I'm really starting to feel a bit of burning out coming on, though I don't know what for. I think it's because I"m staying up too late at night to physically be able to deal with getting up at 7AM every morning. Factor in the fact that I walk home about twice a week (I loooooove doing this. And will never trade my peaceful walk home whilst listening to the cheesiest possible metal for the WORLD. <3), and I'm just about feeling dead. I may take a small break from... everthing, so....... er.... Don't wonder if I fell in a pit (I probably did.) cause I'm just sleeping?

As for the title of this post, I was checking through my last.fm page this morning, and noticed that Coldplay was my top-played artist for the week. D: They released new tracks from their new album. They sound different/more better, I swear! THEIR MUSIC IS LIKE AURAL CRACK! Plus, I think one of the new songs is about Louis XIV, who I had to spend a lot of time learning about in my History class last semester, so I feel slightly justified. It makes me feel smart. Actually, I think I'm just gonna go with the crack thing. It seems to be my excuse for everything.
spazz: (ROCK!)
Today, my dad finally started up his iPod... The one he bought last August along with my laptop. So this has been quite a long time in the coming. Anyway, he has a lot of Kansas, and sang all high-pitched along with Boston in the car, and I'm totally stealing his CDs. And driving everywhere with him from now on. Seriously. Most amazingly hilarious and entertaining and awesome and awesome thing ever.

Also, I got paid today. :D And then promptly spent half my paycheck on a wig, hair dye, and socks. Hopefully I've gotten all of that out of my system.

I still have a crack theory in me from last night's episode (and oh boy, is it huge, over-arching, and CRACK), but I just don't have the focus to sit down and type it all out. But it's so awesome. Or at least it seems like it to me right now in my half-asleep, sort-of-dazed mindset. Totally awesome. Yeah. *cough*

In other news, I was tagged to do a meme )

Alright! 15 minute Journalism final for the epic win! :) There were only 3-4 questions I was even uncertain about, so... Here's hoping I can squeak an A out in that class. It really depends on what I get on my paper. Which he's not giving back to us. e.x;

But I'm done! And thus making a substantive post for the first time in a long time. :) Arts and music lie ahead! :D

Summer Soundtrack/Facial expressions/Icon Meme )

---

So a while ago I did something like an icon meme where I had to say something about a few of my icons. So I'm doing that now. I don't have time to tag anyone, but feel free to pontificate about your favorite icons in the comments/your own journal.

It is my firm belief that everyone should have a "Damn you, Kripke" icon. It is my other firm belief that everyone will have one by the end of this season. :) The man just knows how to make me love him and curse his name for the buckets and buckets of angst he pours out in his show. I picked this one because Bobby's on it, and who doesn't love Bobby? Psychopaths. That's who.

I love Meg, and have a bad habit of being sarcastic and doing bad things. *cough* I love the placement of the text on this one, too. :) These are the kinds of things that make me realize I'll never be a great icon-maker. I don't think of doing simple things enough. Ah, well. In closing, Meg = <3.

Dream a Little Dream of Me might just be my favorite episode of this season so far. And I love the composition and overall eeriness of the ending of that episode. What can I say? Demon!Dean just does it for me. :P Kripke, you horribly magnificent teasing bastard, if Dean is not at least part demon by the beginning of next season, I will feel severely let down, and probably cry.

Whoo! One of my crappy icons from the Ghostfacers site. The only one on this list that I've actually made, and it fills my heart with ridiculous glee. Sam's beard and Dean's glasses are hilarious and epic win.

---

Tonight is Supernatural! :D Hopefully I'll have deep thinky-thoughts about the episode, but finals have probably ensured that I won't. Oh, well. PIE! <333 Last time, we found these tiny pie crusts at the store, and made cup-pies like in Pushing Daisies. Because we are the biggest/most awesome nerds you ever could meet. Last time we had blackberry, and this time we're making peach. :) They're adorable. Since this is the last Pie-day, I'll probably try to take pictures. I won't, but I'll probably try.
